Mastitis gone but still got lumps

Just wondered if any one had come across this...mastitis was a week ago and has cleared up nicely with antibiotics( GP said it was an infection as I had a temperature).

However, there are still lumps in the breast- no other pain, redness or tenderness though. Should I return to the GPs do you think or are the ducts just taking a bit of time to calm down?

When i had mastitis soneone on here advised me to have a warm bath and comb my breasts especially where lunps were-- worked a treat for me, might be worth a go.

Thanks little alien, I've tried all that but can't seem to shift them. Weird thing is I do feel fine now so perhaps I don't need to worry.

what kind of size? how do they feel? hard or squashy? my first bout of mastitis left a cyst behind which needed draining by a specialist. Not horrible or painful, just one of those things. if you're concerned go back to your gp. If a cyst is left it can go bad.

oh by the way, it felt like a little squashy water balloon.

I think it's just one lump, hard not squashy. An abcess would be sore wouldn't it? Perhaps I should go back to GP.

A gp friend told me it was normal for the lumps to take a while to go down. I pressed down and pushed towards nipple and they went down over a few days I think. I would wait a few days then go back to gp, otherwise they may just send you away again?

I had the exact same thing, I saw my GP who referred me to the Breast Clinic just to check it wasn't anoything to worry about. At first they thought it was an abcsess, but were stumped by the fact that I had no pain, and was in good health. My lactation consultant thought it was more likely to be a galactocele, have a look on Google and see if that sounds like what you have. It doesn't hurt to get checked out by the GP, even if it's just to put your mind at ease.
