Breasts gone very soft 9 days after birth

I've read on the kellymom site that it's normal for breasts to stop feeling so 'full' after about 6 weeks, but my ds is only 9 days old and after about a day of engorgement they now feel empty. I'm nursing on demand which is about every couple of hours at the moment, sometimes more frequently, but am a bit worried that something's happening to my supply. It's not all that easy for him to latch on at the moment as his face just sinks into them!

If he has lots of wet and difty nappies and seems happy, thats usually a good sign that they are getting all they need.
When ds was younger my breasts never felt full, it is only now that he goes longer at night that they do in a morning.
Dont know if thats any help, but good luck with bf.

If he is gaining weight and has plenty of wet nappies I wouldnt worry.

I never got engorged in the first few weeks and hardly ever leaked - I never felt let-down or felt my milk come in in the first few days. Yet I am still breastfeeding at 21 months old. If your ds is happy, gaining weight and is weeing/pooing enough I think you should trust your supply.

I did get some engorgement later when ds went a bit longer than normal without feeding but it was alwys prettu mild and I never really knew what breastpads were for !!

2labs, I never got engorged at all and didn't really notice my milk coming in! I have used 2 breast pads in my life (DD now 16 months and still feeding) and that was when I was out all day at a meeting!! I have enormous breasts (34H) and they are always fairly soft. Even when full. So don't worry and keep it up. XXXX
