can I stop steralising bottles and teats etc at 6 months, or did I imagine that?
Oh and whilst I am on the subject, am I supposed to be doing something special with the teats - rubbing salt in to clean them or something?

Yes, we stopped sterilising at 6 months - makes things much easier, especially when it's midnight and you realise you haven't done them! I don't know about the salt thing, we just used a teat brush. I seem to remember that rubbing salt in may scratch them, therefore making them more likely to retain bacteria. Then again, I might just have made that up! It's funny what having a baby does to your brain!

My mum always used to clean the teats with salt -probably a bit of a throw back to the 60's/70's and less necessary in these days of silicone teats, dishwashers and antibacterial liquid. My friend used latex teats and never sterilised, just put them through the dishwasher. I always made sure that teats etc were thoroughly cleaned either fresh from the dishwasher or sterilised in m/wave, rest was just rinsed in boiling water before use until about 9 months.
