I stopped sterilising ANYTHING at 7 months.
DS is now almost 3 and is still alive with no ill effects. GrinGrin

yes I agree as long as the bottles get a really good wash

Buy a pair of marigolds and just hand wash in fairy liquid and really hot water. I've always done that when we were travelling and yet to have any problems.

Once baby is 6 months you no longer need to sterilise anything, as their immune system has built up by then.

stargirl1701 · 31/01/2014 22:15

You should sterilise if you are using powdered formula as it can contain very nasty bacteria. Liquid formula and breastmilk don't need the same level of scrupulous hygiene.

As stargirl says, if you are using powdered formula then you should always sterilise the bottle and teat regardless of age. The bacteria that can be present in the powder is really nasty.

hugebags their immune system has built up enough that sterilising dummies, plates etc is unnecessary as they can cope with general household germs that might be on these items. But with formula milk and bottles, we're talking about a much more dangerous specialised bug.

okay thanks ladies! Im still sterilizing the bottles spose its easier now he doesn't have as many a day, I still sterilize his dummy but with the MAM ones ita just easy :)
