Moving from bf to ff

Just looking for a bit of advice regarding switching!
My 6mo (today!) dd has been ebf since birth including being given expressed milk in a bottle from 2 weeks, so I know she can drink from one!
As time has gone on its becoming increasingly harder to expres.
I've just starting weaning and want to start cutting out bf too and replacing with formula. What is the best way to do this?
I think I want to buy the ready made cartons but which ones do I get? The follow on milk?
Is there a difference between brands?
Also would you fed from the bottle or just try from a cup, she drinks water quite well out of her sippy cup so don't know whether to just go with that?
Apologies for the barrage of questions and clueless post. Want to get it right!
TIA

I didn't do this myself, so could be completely wrong, but my understanding is that:

  • it's fine to use the first (stage 1) formulas through to 12 months, and this is what the NHS advice is.
  • follow on milks are just an invention to circumvent the strict laws against advertising stage 1 formulas.
  • all stage 1 formulas are basically the same as the ingredients are proscribed by law. Any differences are tiny, so you may as well go for the cheapest one that is available to you.
  • I would go for a sippy cup rather than a bottle. Bottles are meant to be phased out by 1 anyway, so introducing one only to remove it a short while later seems unnecessary.

Thankyou! Went out last night for the second time since she was born and fed her a bottle of formula when she woke at about 5am this morning. (Think I'll stick with a bottle for any night feeds if she wakes but she doesn't tend to, and use a cup of milk alongside food in the day time.)
