14 week old baby only feeding when asleep?

I'm at my wits end with my little one at the moment. She's my third baby and I haven't experienced anything like this with my older two. I was combination feeding until a couple of weeks ago when she became so difficult to feed that I stopped breastfeeding altogether because I was worried enough to feel I needed to know exactly how much milk she was drinking.
It's just getting worse though. She literally starts screaming the minute I 'assume the position' to start feeding her. Sometimes she'll take 0.5oz and then start screaming and spluttering but mostly she won't take any. She just becomes hysterical and arches her back to get away from the bottle.
The only way I can get a decent amount into her is to rock her to sleep and then dream feed her. She took 18oz in 24hrs yesterday, according to the Aptamil box she should be taking almost twice that.
I'm off to the doctors with her this morning but I wondered if anyone had experienced similar?
My DS had bad reflux when he was a baby and people have suggested this might be silent reflux (she's not sick) but surely if it was reflux she wouldn't feed at night either?
I've tried several different teats / bottles and feeding her topless (!) so we have skin to skin etc.
Thank you!

I hope you had good advice from the doctor. My DD refused the bottle for ages and i gave up bf entirely at around 5 months. The only solution for us was to make DH do the feeds but even then she could be a little madam about it. It probably two weeks for her to adjust to the change, she is 18 months now and has no feeding issues at all, still a little. Madame though.

Thanks for your response. Doc said probably silent reflux and prescribed Gaviscon and Ranitidine. I'm trying to get her an apt with a cranial osteopath now.

Hideous night last night - trying to rock a hungry baby to sleep just so she'll take some milk....arrrrgh!

My DS stopped feeding whilst awake and had silent reflux. Two weeks on lansoparazole and was back to feeding whilst awake. All the best x

It might also be worthwhile trying a hydrolysed formula to rule out cows milk allergy? You can get it on prescription

No other symptoms of lactose intolerance though - normal poos and no rash. I have a girlfriend whose baby is lactose intolerant though and on the special formula so maybe I'll try some of hers!

Looking up lansoparazole now.

Thank you.

DD was exactly the same. It was silent reflux. We had some success with Ranitidine in the early days. Your GP can prescribe it. They will start on the lowest dose so keep going back until your LO is comfortable. If there is no change after 7 days, the dose is not working. The dose will also change as your LO gains weight.

I would also recommend a referral to Paediatrics in case the Ranitidine doesn't work in the long term.
