Tongue tie snipped today

I recently posted about my baby having a potential tongue tie (diagnosed by myself and dp!!)
Saw the breast feeding specialist today and it turned out DS had 75% anterior tongue tie. So, they snipped it Shock and he's feeding well since, Just thought I'd post partly to raise awareness of TT if anyone has any problems bfing to check out TT. Grin

My LO also had tongue tie-so obvious that the front of his togmur is heart shaped and yet the hospital didn't pick it up when he was born- it was only a bf councillor at a bf group who said it might be- then I did some research and saw a photo which looked just like my baby's.

I agree- more awareness would help. His was snipped at 2 weeks. Have you found 100% improvement? Mine still struggles to open his mouth/stick his tongue out enough so I still have sore nipples. I'm hoping it'll improve soon!

Togmur? Should say tongue!

My 10 day old is also tongue tied, we've got an appt at the hospital next week where they'll decide if it needs snipping (cringe). She seems to feed ok but my nipples are very sore,, I know they would be anyway but I wonder if they're worse because of the tt.

Stupid question; what do they do when they snip?? I'm assuming baby will be anesthetised/sedated?

My DS has a posterior tongue tie and I'm hoping to get it snipped soon (though apparently posterior tongue tie is more difficult to spot so I'm hoping all the professionals agree with the original diagnosis). I've been told they have no nerve endings in the bit that joins their tongue to the bottom of their mouth so there might be a bit if blood but no pain for them.

To be honest I'm not sure if she snipped enough, still takes ages to feed, can be restless after, frenulum still visible. Nipples slightly sore and flattened also Hmm
They dont anaesthetise, it's literally a quick snip with some sterile scissors while baby is swaddled, then brought to mum for a breast feed. I didn't watch DS having it done, did. I think it did hurt as he cried HmmHmm but fed straight away and didn't seem bothered after feed Smile
Will post some interesting links if I can...
