Drying sterilised bottles and pump parts - necessary?

I'm a new mum and want to start expressing some breast milk. I'm just a bit confused about whether I should be be drying the various parts after steam sterilising. On my Tommee Tippee steam steriliser it says no need to dry parts as the water is sterile, but on my Medela breast pump instructions it says parts must be left to air dry. I think if I did the latter I'd never get any expressing done as I currently express whenever an opportune moment arises, and factoring in an extra half hour to let the parts dry is unlikely until my baby is in more of a routine! Interested to hear what others do. Thanks

I never bothered drying.
In my head I felt like the tea towel wasn't going to be sterile, it would be like rubbing germs onto a clean thing...IYSWIM??!
So long as the bottles/pump are clean when you put them in to sterilise, you'll be ok Grin

I don't dry either just give them a shake to get rid of any excess water :)

Never bothered drying bottles but found the pump didn't work as well if the bits weren't totally dry when I reassembled them (not the parts that got milk on them obvs)

I sometimes dry using a piece of kitchen roll, but usually air dry the Medela parts...I emailed them about it as I found it confusing...I'll post the email when I find it...

Hi Claire,

Many thanks for taking the time to contact us regarding your Swing breastpump.

The best way to dry the items is with clean fresh paper towels, you needn?t worry about contamination as bacteria will not grow on a clean surface, so as long as you have removed/cleaned all milk traces from the items this will be fine. The items do need to be as dry as possible in order for the performance of the pump not to be
