Making bottles faster?!

I was wondering how people make up their bottles? As I was told by the midwife in hospital to boil the kettle, leave it for no more than 30 mins, then mix in the formula and cool the bottle in a jug of cold water. As everyone probably knows, this is not a quick process and is horrible when your baby is screaming!

So I was wondering if anyone else has any ideas that still adhere to guidelines, but make the process a bit faster? I've looked at the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Perfect Prep Machine, but at £99 it seems like a hell of a lot of money for something that gives you water at the correct temperature by adding hot water and then filtered water.

Could I get the same result by using a water filter jug and only putting half the amount of boiling water in the bottle, then the formula, then topping up with filtered water? As that is how the Tommee tippee machine works? Or even just boiling the kettle and letting the water cool, then putting it in the fridge instead of filtering it and adding that to boiling water when needed?

Does anyone else do this or anything similar? Sorry for the long-winded explanation but I hope you can all understand what I'm getting at!
Thanks :-)

Not sure if there's a quicker and cheaper way but Amazon have the perfect prep machine on sale at £65 at the moment. I have one and a 3 day old baby and would definitely recommend.

I sometimes wait 30 mins or 3 sec's before adding the powder......I have a 9 week old and she is my 4th, these guidelines still confuse me as every child I've had they always change.

I boil the kettle, pour 2 oz hot water into the bottle, add powder so its mixed into hot water then top it up with cooled boiled water kept in a separate sterilised bottle. perfect temp, that's basically what the tommee tippee machine does!!

We have used room temp water from about 5 days old (as advised by midwife and paediatrician). It was never a problem for DS who was much happier than when he had to wait for the bottle to cool. It's also easier when you go out for the day.

Mindboggle it is important that the formula is made up with water over 70 °C to Kill potentially harmful bacteria in the powder.

My ds is 8months and I still boil kettle wait 30 mins then pour into a flask.
Perfect temp water for making bottles for 6-12 hrs depending on how good the flask is.
Bottles still need cooling for my ds.

If I has a bottle fed baby now then I would get a perfect prep machine. You can often get at about £60 which seems a decent price for very quick but safe bottles.

Thanks everyone.
Roofio87 that's exactly what I was getting at, I think I'm going to give it a try :-) I will check with health visitor this week but I can't see there being any problems!

We've got the perfect prep machine - £99 ish may seem like a lot to pay out for it but I think it's worth it's weight in gold. We have a very lovely but impatient DD who can just about manage to wait the few mins it takes to make up a bottle using the machine, heaven help us if she had to wait 30mins for water to get to the right temp! If you see it on sale at a discount, I'd certainly recommend it! (I think we paid £80).
