Anyone's lo had infatrini? How sick were they on it...

Will keep this short, but 7mo ds has bad reflux, struggling to feed as it hurts him. Ranitidine was amazing then stopped working, now omeprazole is having limited effect. As his weight gain has been poor (born 25th-50th centile, now well below9th heading for 2nd) he has been put on infatrini.
Problem is, he needs thickened food to keep it down so we are slowly introducing it with his reflux formula.
Since upping the concentration to 50/50 though he as started being quite epically sick. Like 4 times today requiring full changes for hs both, floor washes etc. he has had a cough which seems to be improving but isn't helping matters and has had quite loose poo for a few days. I'm at a bit of a loss asto how much of this us the infatrini and how much him being ill. Any experience?
Feeling a bit hopeless ATM so any experiences much appreciated.

My sympathies! Severe reflux is just grim.

My DS was on Infatrini; prior to that he was on SMA High Energy but wasn't taking in enough so we moved onto a higher calorie formula. He tolerated the change fine. Then he moved onto Paediasure Plus & didn't tolerate it at all.

But his dietary intake was poor & he really needed the calories from the milk, so I persevered.

Week 1 was 95% old milk & 5% new milk. Week 2 90% and 10%. It took 3 months for him to tolerate the new milk. And he was on adult-strength Omeprazole (20mg).

Age 5 he is now a good eater & between 9th/25th centile, having been below 0.4th. So there is hope!

Good luck xxx

Thanks. When did he grow out of it?
My lo is also on adult dose omeprazole but it does little. Of course now its unclear how much is behavioural and how much pain, but you are right, it sucks. We also have the joys of reflux sleep habits. Holding upright after feeds means self soothing is a joke, can't cry it out as it results in sick (also he is in pain when he lies down) so its too unfair to do it. No way o know how much is behavioural and how much is caused by discomfort...

What was it your ds found hard to tolerate? Was it the thickness of the milk or ingredients within it?

I'm glad your lo is doing so well now. Be very proud of yourself for getting through it! X

Hi @lem31

I appreciate this post is old but my daughter sounds very similar to the situation you had.

Did it ever help with weight gain? My girl doesn't have reflux but her weight gain is slow.

She is 8 months and weighs 6.2kg
