Always engorged in the morning

DS has been sleeping 8-9 hours a night for about 3 weeks now which I'm obviously loving but I always wake up engorged. Should my boobs have adjusted their supply now? It's quite uncomfortable and makes it difficult to feed so we've got into a cycle of me expressing first thing and DS having a bottle of the expressed milk from the day before as his first feed.
This routine is fine as it keeps him used to the bottle but is the expressing it all off both sides contributing to being so engorged every morning? I'm so scared of getting mastitis again!

Just curious, why don't you just feed him first thing in morning? How old is he? Sleeping 8/9 hours is good going! Lucky you :)

My supply didn't regulate until about 12 weeks and even now I'm fairly engorged first thing if ds has a good night! (26 weeks)

Express just enough to allow a good latch. A few squeezes was enough for me.

Mamma it's uncomfortable to feed which is why I express and DH gives DS a bottle of the milk I expressed the day before. I'm quite happy with that routine as like I said it keeps him used to the bottle (important as there's a chance I may have to give up bfing at some point for medical reasons) but was wondering if it was somehow contributing to the engorgement or if it just takes longer than 3 weeks to adjust to DS sleeping through.
