Making up comfort milk?

What is the easiest way to make comfort milk up when out and about? We have the perfect prep for home and I am so used to using the ready made cartons when out and about so not sure how to make this when out. I've been told to take water in bottles then add powder as needed but I thought the water had to be boiling to kill bugs in the powder?

take hot water in a flask? Put the bottle with hot water in an insulated bottle bag? Make the bottle up in advance with hot water, chill it and then warm it up in hot water when required? It would need to be kept in a cool bag to stop it warming up

I used to take a flask, a small bottle of cooled boiled water (5oz), a bottle to drink from and a pot of the powder. I would then put 2oz hot water from the flask into the drinking bottle and add the powder and shake. Then add your 5oz cooled boiled water and its ready to drink. Basically what the perfect prep does.

Ok thanks both!

If I go with the thermos bag option and making in advance how long does the formula stay fresh for? I'm tempted by this method as with two under 2 I don't have much space in the change bag for lots of different containers. But then again I like the idea of the feed been made fresh. Shame the comfort doesn't come ready made :/

nhs says this:

If it isn't possible to follow the advice above or if you need to transport a feed (for example, to a nursery), prepare the feed at home and cool it for at least one hour in the back of the fridge.

Take it out of the fridge just before you leave and carry it in a cool bag with an ice pack, and use it within four hours. If you do not have an ice pack, or access to a fridge, the made-up infant formula must be used within two hours.

*If made-up formula is stored in a fridge, use within 24 hours.
*If made-up formula is stored in a cool bag with an ice pack, use within four hours.
*If made-up formula is stored at room temperature, use within two hours.

I thought it was only ok for 2 hours, thats why i did it the other way. I also have 2 under 2 and managed to squeeze everything in. Dd is a terrible puker too so also had to have about 10 bibs and 3 muslins! Ds got a couple of nappies and a sippy cup, the rest of the bag was dd's stuff.

We have moved her onto normal milk now so its so much easier with cartons

I have the perfect prep machine and if I know I'll be giving the feed within 2 hours, I'll make it using the machine and put the made up bottle in an insulated bottle holder. Any longer and I use cartons (which isn't much help to you!)

Thanks all! Don't know why I didn't think to check the NHS guidelines. Will go with pre making and the thermos. If going out for all day will try the flask method.
