Are you looking after yourself? Eating and drinking well?

MoreSkyThanWeNeed · 12/01/2014 18:05

Are you eating/drinking enough?
Could you be low in iron? Maybe take a multivitamin?
More cake?!

Novia · 12/01/2014 18:05

Make sure you drink a large glass of water every time you feed. Also a glass of milk per day and plenty of iron-rich foods!

PenguinsDontEatKale · 12/01/2014 18:06

How old is your baby? Even if she sleeps well, there is a good chance it's having a young baby, not bf-ing itself.

callamia · 12/01/2014 18:08

Eat and drink. Eat and drink some more.
I do know what that feels like. After an evening cluster feed, my whole body aches and I'm exhausted. I think it's about really eating and drinking enough to help your energy level, and resting your body when you can - a hot bath/shower makes me feel a lot better too.

Artandco · 12/01/2014 18:09

I had that. I was also low in iron and under 8 stone

I drank a glass of milk at each main feed ( every 2hrs)
Water also if needed, kept bottles next to sofa
Ate lots of spinach, mushrooms and steak ( at least one of them a day).

I know they say you only need about 300-500 calories extra a day but personally I needed far more ( prob 1000 extra)

Fed ds1 for 2.5 years, fed ds2 2 years, 1 year of that was tandem feeding

SecretNutellaFix · 12/01/2014 18:13

Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals?

noblegiraffe · 12/01/2014 18:17

How long does she feed for? I remember the evenings when DD was cluster feeding for hours and it sometimes felt like with every suck my eyeballs were being sucked back into my head.

Plenty of water, cake nutritious food, and when the baby isn't feeding, hand her over to someone else so you get a bit of a break from holding her - that can be tiring in itself.

Madamecastafiore · 12/01/2014 18:54

Bloody hell am 8 stone is some so not underweight.

Probably need to drink more and to hand her over to DH more.

Am having the liquid iron stuff you put in fruit juice and a multivitamin.

She only 8 weeks old so I suppose tiredness from pregnancy and birth still a factor.

I do feel like she is sucking it up from my boots sometimes!

It's just some days I feel fine and today feel wiped out.

I know it sounds crazy but are you getting enough exercise and fresh air? Once I started taking my ds's out for a walk at least an hour every day I felt much more awake even I tired to begin with

Madamecastafiore · 12/01/2014 21:04

Gym yesterday and 90 minutes walk today.

Hmm, do you feel wiped out on the days you go to the gym or do long walks or the ones you don't?

I think I'd feel wiped out doing the exercise!

MakesAMessWhenStressed · 12/01/2014 22:38

plus feeding another human being from your body is tiring. It just is.

Not to mention all those super hormones knocking you flat. Have you looked at your baby's face after she's eaten? You're getting the same drugs you know Grin
