Dream feed - how long after the initial bedtime feed?

DS is 14 weeks and I have finally managed to get him in his basket before we go to bed, at the moment I usually put him down after a long feed at 8-8.30 ish, without a dream feed he is waking anytime between 12.30 and 3. I normally go to bed about 10pm, is this too early to do a dream feed on the basis that DS may only have been asleep for an hour and a half? I know it would be better to get him down earlier but his last feed takes ages and I have to start it whilst doing bedtime with the toddler so it's not that calm!
I should add, DS has only been going down in his basket at this time for about a week, until then he was up with me cluster feeding most the evening!
Any advice welcome, I never successful achieved doing a dream feed with DD, but we were able to co-sleep, which isn't working as well for DS!
Thanks

I am dream feeding 15wo DS (just finished!) and it does work a treat.
His bedtime is between 6 & 7pm coz I then have to get twin 2.6 DDs to bed. I wake him 10.30pm, quiet change of nappy then feed then pop him back in his cot.
He sleeps then til 6.30/7.00am.
If I leave him he'll wake at 2am and I don't want to be awake then!
Could you shift your bedtime earlier? Also perhaps consider if the basket is a bit small now? DS hated his as he used to get really wedged at the top. He loves his cot though!
