Ds 8 weeks feeding constantly very little sleep

Ds is now 8 weeks, he feeds almost all day and I only get five minutes here and there where he is feeding or crying to fed. Some of it is comfort sucking so I got a soother recently but he won't take it.

Also he only sleeps for cat naps in my arms or in the bed after feeding. And minute I transfer him out to cot he wakes up & wants feeding again.

I want to continue ebf but I've a toddler as well and hubby works long days, I can't continue this way. Any help?

I had a pph at 2 weeks so I expect that my milk wasn't strong enough for him for a bit but I got 2 units of blood so that should've settled by now

Congrats on the baby and well done on the breastfeeding despite the PPH. I want to start by saying anytime you feel like Channing to formula then it is perfectly acceptable to do that and I'm not trying to persuade you in anyway. Just sharing my experience and thoughts as i have a toddler and 'absent' partner too!

  1. My baby did the same at 8 weeks old - fed and sucked for comfort constantly(no dummy unfortunately) Now at 5 months it's much better. Your milk cannot lack 'strength'. Women in famine situations breastfeed babies. It's your body that suffers in a shortage of nutrients. Not the milk. Great eh?
  1. My baby would only sleep in a sling at that point. This 'neediness' reduced at around 12 weeks and now she likes the cocoon in pram best in the day. In bed with me at night. Though I'm slowly helping her to move to the cot.

I suppose I'm saying it all sounds normal so ride it out and get by as best you can. Good luck.

I gave into supplementation after hospital stay just to keep dh & my mother happy, they thought it'd help me get some rest but instead I was furiously trying to pump to ensure supply didn't suffer.

Haven't given formula in weeks now.
I know he's had 8 good weeks but i don't want to stop but I'm returning to some evening work shortly & would love for him to settle & not need to be up in arms so much.

I'm not great at expressing so he'll probably get formula this one evening per week, should only be one bottle for time I'll be gone.
