Proper sick not just possetjng. Have offered boob again after clean up job which she didn't seem interested in. She's calm and upright on my shoulder. Shall I try to get her to sleep? Should I offer boob again as she's sicked up her food?

Is she just bfing and nothing else. Might be like my ds who just was sick all the time. No virus or discomfort. He just threw up after eating, when in a car, when on swing, when he was just sitting there. Really pretty much all the time...he'd eat and eat and eat (bfing exclusively) and then throw up....I had to change him 5 or 6 times a day.

QuietNinjaTardis · 02/01/2014 04:08

Yeh she's ebf. This is the first time it's happened. She's going to sleep now. If she isn't well I just keep offering the boob don't I? There's nothing else I can do is there, she's only 4 weeks.
Thanks for replying

Yep that's the best thing you can do-just keep offering. My lo used to projectile vomit once or twice a day when she was a few weeks old. After two trips to the docs and a stay in hospital it turned out to be very bad wind. They recommended winding her for half an hour after each feed as it took a long time for her.I was given all sorts of advice- I was over feeding her-should give her water if she has been sick or a bottle of formula ( nurse told me this!).

They never did figure out why ds vomited all the time (many many many years later, when he started suffering from migraines, a neurologist said it was probably abdominal migraines...I'm not entirely convinced - I think it was just a weak stomach flap thingy (forget what it's called)). Just keep ebfing, and she'll stay hydrated and be fine. Though it does take a bit of mental gymnastics to get over the feeling that your breast milk is being wasted! ds was the fattest baby ever (apart from dd who was even fatter) despite vomiting after every feed and several times in between feeds. (Don't worry, they are both skinny as can be now in their tweens/teens).

Thanks for all replies. Got her back down at half 4 so got my head down too. I didn't think you could over feed a breast fed baby? Will see how she goes today.

My ds used to do this sometimes, I think he just filled himself up too much and got rid of the excess! As long as she seems happy enough and no temperature or anything?

QuietNinjaTardis · 02/01/2014 08:40

No temp, seems quite calm apart from a bit of wind.

Possibly reflux. Just carry on as normal unless she seems poorly in any other way. It might help to wind her mid-feed.

2 of my 3 had reflux and did this. Winding mid-feed helped.

QuietNinjaTardis · 02/01/2014 09:34

Will wind her more then and keep fingers crossed. Thanks everyone
