My baby is 6 months old. He was sleeping through the night but a couple of weeks ago started waking to breastfeed every 2 hours. It's sore and I have started him on solids to get him to sleep better. I wondered also if it was a growth spurt but there's no signs of it abating.
However, the worst thing now is that he's biting my nipple hard every feed. I am dreading each feed and am on edge every time. I'm even considering switching to formula tomorrow, something I don't want to do. He even drew blood today. Can someone tell me it will get better?

My dd does this from time to time. If she does it I say no and basically take the boob off her which normally works. If she bites and really clamps down I pull her closer to me then she'll let go tell her know and take it away from her for about a minute good luck

When my DS had his two teeth coming through he got bitey like this. I had to really learn the signs of tiredness/boredom/getting to the end of a feed that meant it was more likely to happen, and then take him off.

When his teeth did come through and were very sharp he drew blood and actually opened a small wound in one nipple that got an infection and was total agony to feed from. I tried using nipple shields to let it heal but he hated them so they made him more bitey - in fact he figured out that he could bite down on the shield and just pull it off completely. Hmm

Not sure about the frequent waking. My DS is up and down a lot at the start of the night (6.5 months) but he doesn't always need feeding so we settle without after a certain point when we know he doesn't need more. I think he finds it hard to switch off at night and no amount if bath, cuddle, story etc. does the trick completely.

Thanks for replying. I've been paying special attention to him during feeding to see the signs of boredom etc and he hasn't bitten me today. Yay.
