Impact of illness on supply?

DD (10 weeks) has bronchiolitis and is really struggling to feed. When she does, it's for only a few minutes.

I'm expressing when I can ( to relieve the discomfort and maintain supply) but with a sick baby who only wants to be held, I'm not managing to express that often.

Other than my huge, painful boobs, will this have any long term impacts on supply?

My gut says as long as she's feeding little and often, along with expressing you should be ok. Is she feeding through the night as well? Night feeds help keep your milk supply going, so making sure of that might help, also sin to skin, even if it 'just' helps regulate her temperature and breathing.
Can you lie in bed with her at all?

Hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along soon. Good luck, hope your dd is better soon Smile

Thanks, she is so unhappy, poor wee thing.

She fed once during the night, for 4 minutes.....

Hi again,
My ds had bronchiolitis when he was about 10 weeks as well. I kept him on me as much as possible in order to squeeze in as much as possible and I even started waking/dream feeding at night for a couple of nights in order to keep him hydrated etc.
However he was also being sick quite a lot, I don't know if your dd is, if not you might not need to be as full on as I was.
Also she may be taking the same amounts in less time now as she has got older and knows what she is doing, so another positive.
Hopefully I haven't worried you, I wanted to bump the thread and offer my experience, and ds was back to normal feeding within a week.

Thank you for the bump Grin

She is still a poorly wee sausage but feeding a lot better and, touch wood, there doesn't seem to be any impact from her worst days.
