BF baby not pooed for 4 days, should I be worried?

Hi!
DD is 20 wk and EBF. She used to poo with every nappy, but this went to once a day a month or so ago. Now I am getting worried as she hasn't had a dirty nappy for 4 days. She is feeding 6 or 7 times in 24 hrs.She has had plenty of wet nappies and doesn't seem in any discomfort.
Is this normal, or should I be worried?

At about the same age my EBF DS didn't poo for 10 days!
I contacted our HV at day 5 who suggested giving small amounts of diluted pure orange juice. This didn't work but DS seemed completely fine. By the 9th day I planned to make a doctors appointment as although he was still ok it seemed a long time to not poo but he had a normal bowel movement the next morning just before I phoned the doctor.

So I don't think it's unusual, and if your DD seems comfortable I'd just keep an eye on her and no doubt she'll go soon, hopefully!

I know each baby is different but my ebf son, now 7 months, once has was about 8 weeks old moved to weekly poos, then about 16 weeks to once a fortnight and has stayed that way even now in early weaning. Was checked by GP when they went fortnighly and GP said it was just because breastmilk is purpose made and so there is v little waste. Was advised to watch out for any discomfort or hardening of his tummy but as long as he was himself and having lots of wet nappies, not to worry. Hth

My 13mo DD has been through so many distinct poo phases! Grin during one around your DD's age, she pooed religiously every third day Hmm. Thir gut changes a lot during the first year and I 'd say you're still within the bounds of normality. Light clockwise massage round the belly button with two fingers and bicycle her legs if you 're concerned.

And watch out for the poonami when she does eventually go. Wink

Ha Ninja! I would actually stay close to home on poo days. Ah memories
