Windy 4 month old!

Hi,
My DD is 18 weeks and ebf. In general she is a pretty good feeder - about every 2-3 hours during the day and 1-2 feeds at night, latches on easily, and is gaining weight (although last week when I got her weighed she had dropped half a percentile or so).
The problem is she is often really windy! It doesn't seem to be a problem at night but during the day she can get really distressed. When she's like that she'll refuse the left side (right side has faster let down and faster flow, and was preferred by DS too) and will feed almost like she's knawing at me. It can feel quite rough and 'gripey', and also she has a tooth and will bite me. Gripe water sometimes relives it but very temporarily. When she does pass wind it has a really eggy smell!
I really want to ebf to 6 months then combination feed, but when the feeding is like this I find it really tough. Worried though that formula could make it worse.
Wondered if it's normal for a 4 month old to still be so windy? She isn't relaxed at the end of feeds, just yanks on and off until I take her away.
Also this seems to have coincided with a very clingy phase - suddenly refusing to sleep in bednest and wants to be with me all the time. Not sure if that's related.
Anyone experienced similar?? Would really appreciate any advice.

My 4mo is mixed fed and is windier when having more formula, IME. Or at least finds it harder to pass. End up doing a lot of massage to help calm him.

He's been getting fussy lately and I've been wondering about teeth. He's preferring to feed in more sit up positions. Clingyness seems like a natural developmental stage at this point.

Thanks Sunflower. Hadn't thought about teething - she was born with a tooth but assumed it would be a while before any others. She's chewing toys and shoving everything she finds in her mouth so could be!
Will try to hold off on the formula - it's just so painful when she's thrashing around on my boob!

My 9 week old ds is ebf and very windy too - struggles during the day and at night.

I have tried Colief, but it hasn't helped… I was worried that it might be my diet, but cutting out dairy hasn't made a difference either.

Was hoping that it would get better by 16 weeks as his digestive system matured - sorry to hear that might not be the case...

Could well be teething especially if born with a tooth, sounds like she could be an early teether. Bobbing on and off the boob due to tooth pain could lead to her swallowing more air and being windy. Clinginess fits with teething too.

Georgie has your DS been checked for tongue tie? DD was very windy and this turned out to be the cause. Any problems latching or maintaining a latch, does he seem to slip off sometimes, does he clamp down, nipples flattened or sore, can you hear him swallowing air... all signs of a tongue tie.
