Building up supply after formula feeding

My DS is 7mo and to date has shown little interest in solids so is fairly much EBF. I was ill the last couple of days and to give me a break my DH gave DS one formula feed each day. I also think I was dehydrated as I couldn't keep fluids down.

Today DS has been very grumpy (he is usually a cheerful little boy) and has not wanted to nap (except when feeding). I was worried about milk supply due to missing feeds, so have fed him (BF) at approx 5am, 8am, 10am, 12pm. At all except 5am feed, he fell asleep feeding, but woke when I put him down.

After about 1/2hr asleep (rocked to sleep after 12pm-ish feed), he woke again and I gave him some formula. He guzzled 200ml and was the happiest he's been all day. He has been content until now when he is having another BF (but he is really playing as much as anything - latching and unlatching and blowing raspberries!).

I know the best thing to do to increase my supply is feed, but feeding more frequently than I have today will be difficult as I have toddler DD to look after, too. I know that I probably shouldn't have given him the formula but hated him being so unhappy.

I don't want this to be the beginning of the end of BF. Any advice or encouragement welcome Smile

Evening/night feeds are supposed to help build supply.
Does he feed much at night? Could you do a few dream feeds? Good luck

That's a good idea, thank you Sunflower

He usually feeds every 3 hours-ish at night but last couple of nights wouldn't settle in the evening but then slept for about 6 hours. Not sure if it was related to the FF as that was given at lunch time.

This evening/tonight I'll try and make sure he feeds lots.
