She won't leave my face alone!

Sorry this is such a minor problem compared to most threads on this board but arghhhhh she just won't leave my face alone!!

I've tried resting toys on my chest to keep her hands occupied, but nope, only my face will do! Her fingers are in my mouth, up my nose, pulling at my lips, fiddling with my teeth.... At first it was funny and cute but now it's really wearing a bit thin! DP of course still finds it hilarious! Sad

i would hold onto her hands, or look the other way.
if she continues then stop the feed and put her down

kissitbetter · 02/12/2013 16:56

I'd hold her hand too, or what about a bright chunky necklace?

ColdTeaAgain · 02/12/2013 17:02

I find if I hold her hand she gets upset and starts tugging on my nipple! Chunky necklace is a good idea!

….it would drive me potty too. Necklace sounds good and to be honest, I would also be putting down if it continued (although not if only 3 months!!)

ColdTeaAgain · 02/12/2013 17:11

She's almost 6 months so still a bit young to understand!

Hmmm…at 6 months I was convinced that all 3 of mine could understand me. I would be tempted to say a stern 'no' rather than put down but do be ready for the bottom lip wobble, then crying bub and immense feelings of guilt and self loathing in mother!!

ColdTeaAgain · 02/12/2013 17:23

Oh the dreaded bottom lip wobble!! My achilles heal! Grin

i know she won't necessarily understand that you don't want her to grab your face, but she will associate grabbing with a feed ending.
I always say it's worth starting nursing manners early, because while some babies grow out of the pinching/scratching/grabbing phase, others don't! and they get stronger and it hurts more and it gets harder to break the habit.

necklaces or soemthing else to hold may also work though, yes.

MistressofPemberley · 02/12/2013 18:18

I got a lovely necklace from Mama Jewels.

ColdTeaAgain · 02/12/2013 19:54

Thats a good point bundaberg!

Urgh, you have my sympathies - DS2 does this too but only if he wakes up at night for a feed. So I'm trying to soothe him back to sleep and don't want to have to keep hauling him off, but at the same time don't particularly want to have him hanging on to me by the nostrils.

I ended up wearing a particularly fluffy dressing gown that he liked grabbing and pulling at instead, which seems to be working so far.
