Reassurance needed! Am I doing it all wrong?

I've now got no idea what's going on with my 10 week old EBF DS...

Up to a couple of weeks ago he ate and slept really well day and night, mostly going 2-3 hours between feeds, napped for up to 3hours at a time and when awake was always smiling!

Now he hardly sleeps and when he does he's easily woken, when awake he's grump and when he feeds he's fussy! He's started eating his hands a lot so maybe he's hungry? I always offer the breast to him but he doesn't seem to want to feed as much!

Just need reassurance that this too will pass and I haven't somehow done something wrong and broken him!!

Time for a dummy maybe? At 6 weeks mine started getting very fussy at the breast, because he wanted to suck by didn't want to feed. He also had trouble getting to sleep because he wanted the comfort of sucking.

You're not doing anything wrong! They change so frequently, and for so many reasons, it's normal to have a crisis of confidence. I do, regularly!

He prob is more efficient with feeding so taking less time to feed. Which is normal. What is happening sounds completely normal.

My mixed fed baby had the same thing, so IME it wasn't a bf/not getting enough milk problem as my ds could have had as much as he wanted.

A wonder week perhaps?

Thank you sour sweets - I have many confident crises and find mumsnet very reassuring for that! He's always had access to a dummy but stopped being interested in it. I tried to reintroduce it last night and rather than sucking, he was chomping on it! Maybe he's having some discomfort in his gums?!

Smaths - the wonder week stuff looks very interesting - certainly helps you realise that they're constantly changing and learning so will change their sleep/feed/crying too.

Feel much better now to know its perfectly normal behaviour - thanks everyone!
