A friend decided not to bf her now 4 week old baby and she put him on formula. She mentioned today that she regreted not breastfeeding and asked if I knew if she could still encourage a milk supply 4 weeks later and gradually build up feeding him.
I had to be honest I have no idea as I fed both of my babies.
Anyone know if this is possible? And if so how would she go about doing so?

Article on relactation here

Of course :)

It's called relactation and lots of people have done it.

The sooner she gets going, the better. It takes time and motivation .

She needs to phone any of the bf helplines, and/or check out relactation on the web.

But she could just have the baby skin to skin and see what he does - no pressure on the baby or her, just chillaxing with him :)

Thank you :) I had no idea.. there's not an awful lot on the web about it so I wasn't too sure.
