Bottle feeding - help!

Help!
My baby is three weeks old and I'm bottle feeding. He takes 1-2oz and then falls asleep. If I can wake him which is a struggle, he barely takes any more. Then after an hour or two he is hungry again. It is becoming very exhausting, especially during the night.
At first he was going for four hours between feeds but now he won't. I don't know what to do. One midwife says one thing and the health visitor says something else. Does anyone have any ideas or have been through the same thing?
Should I try and get him to go for four hours and make up 4oz for each feed, or should I just keep letting him tell me when he's hungry and when he's had enough?
I really don't know what I should be doing!

what flow rate are you using? When mine started falling asleep after a small amount of milk I got a faster flow teat to see if that helped. They can get tired sucking on the slow flow and fall asleep before having a proper feed. Can't hurt to try as they will need a faster one at some point anyway

Oh I never thought of that. It must be the slowest flow I'm using, I assume! It's not too soon to change to a faster flow is it?

he's 3 weeks old... he is designed to eat little and often! it's best to demand feed where possible, so your child gets used to regulating hs own appetite.

he knows when he is hungry and when he is full, so i would just go with it!

what teats/bottles are you using? Avent does super slow ones for newborns before moving to slow ones for age 1month+, some of the others say from 3 months for the the faster ones so it depends which ones you have.

Thanks so much for your advice! I got some level 2 teats and he seems a lot better on them, he's now back to 3-4 hourly feeds. I guess he was still hungry and just fed up of putting in the effort!
