Separation from breastfed toddler

DD will be 17 months when I leave her for two weekends to go to my sister's hen party and wedding (two and four days respectively). Both are abroad and it would be very difficult and expensive to bring DD who I would have to leave for extended periods with unknown babysitters).

DD is currently 15 months and feeds at (roughly) 5am, 5pm, 7pm and 2am. She drinks small amounts of cows milk from a beaker during the day. Expressing is not an option as I get mastitis when I express milk.

Will she and my boobs be able to deal with the separation or should I wean in advance?

I think I would wean before you go. I did with dd at the same age as I have an overnight stay coming up and wanted her to be able to go to bed without bf.
It was time for us tho, she wasn't really looking for it anymore.
Enjoy your time away!

Watching with interest, I don't think you will need to wean completely but maybe get dp to practice settling at night?

my Ds is 16 months and I will be leaving him for a night out next week. Hoping for the best.

I suppose it depends on if you really want to wean anyway - if you do then it's probably a good goal, if you don't then weaning completely for a hen weekend seems a bit drastic.

I did a weekend away from a BF toddler when he was about 20 months and 5 days away when he was about 2 with no problems, though I did pump a couple of times a day (is there any way you can express and avoid mastitis, it sounds horrible/very odd as normally it's not emptying the breast that gives you mastitis, not pumping from it - different pump, different technique?). We had lots of practice daddy settling beforehand as I had a semi regular band practice night when daddy would put him to bed, so he was quite used to a non-milky bedtime, and just resumed feeding as usual when I got back. Think he was on two or three feeds a day at the time.
