Going away for 2 nights - is this the end of BFing?

DD has just turned 2 and is still BFing a few times a day and once during the night. In a couple of weeks I'm going away for a couple of nights, the first time I've been away from her overnight. I'm not planning on expressing any milk for that time - if this means that we stop BFing, then that's fine, as I'm kind of ambivalent but mostly ready to stop.

We've tried to explain to her that soon I'll be away for a couple of nights and that there'll only be milk in a cup for her then, but is there anything else I can do to make it easier for her? And will two days away mean that my milk will have dried up by the time I get back?

Your milk won't have dried up. You may get a bit uncondy do it's worth quickly revising hand expressing (at least I got uncomfy when I was away when DS was 2). She should be fine :)

no, it doesn't have to mean the end.
i went away overnight (2 full days) when ds3 was only 14 months and came back and breastfed him just fine.

bear in mind though that you may need to express. at 14 months ds3 wasn't actually feeding that much at all so i thought i'd be ok, but by the first evening i was so uncomfortable i had to go hand express in the bathroom!

I think I might have to do that - when I've been out late before, I've occasionally felt like I'm smuggling rocks in my bra by the end of the evening!

I'm kind of pleased that it doesn't necessarily mean it's the end, but I was looking forward to digging my dresses out of the cupboard again... Grin
