Stupid question - how to bath with 8 week old?

I've heard people on here say put baby in bath with you for some skin on skin and feed to help with cluster/night time fussiness....

How? Does the bath have to be deep enough for him to be under the water when feeding to keep him warm?

Temperature of water cooler than I'd have it obviously but what about when it drops and gets too cold?

How long are we in there for? Is DH in there to help?

Stupid questions I know but I want to try tonight and I'm a bit baffled!!

When I take DS in the bath, I run it to the same depth as I would normally have it. That way, he stays warm, and I can swish him about a bit, which he likes.

You don't need DH there, but if he is around an extra pair of hands can be useful. He can pass you the baby once you are in the bath, and take the baby from you once the baby has had enough. Have a towel ready, and a clean nappy close by.

How long is up to you (and the baby!) - 10 mins may be more than enough, but if you are both happy, stay in longer. Again, if DH is there he can take the baby and you can top the bath up with hot water and have a bit of a soak :)

The water temperature shouldn't drop too much while you are in there, but just add some warm while you are in if needed.

The questions aren't stupid - it's just your first time. Babies are a bit slippery in baths and pools, but you very quickly get used to it. They are also lovely and cuddly when in a warm bath.

Have fun.

I do the same as above poster, run normal bath for me, get in dh hands me the baby, I hold him the same as in a baby bath, he gets washed swooshed about then hand him to dh to dry and dress. He only lasts about 10 mins. Ds likes a warmer bath than is recommended, you will no what is too hot.
I can't bath him if dh isn't there as I can't lean over the bath, if I really have to bath him, I do it in the kitchen sink, with a towel on the work top.

Perfect thank you! Just wanted to make sure I got the logistics right! Will make sure the bathroom is nice and warm and fingers crossed for no poos!

Thank you x
