Teats-how often to change them?

And when you do what size do you go for? Ds is 11 months and has 2 bottles of cm per day. I think we'll start giving him it in a cup shortly but atm do we have to change teats every month (I'm sure I heard this) and what size teats should he be using? He's also breastfed. He just had 4oz and he's got a size 2 teat (Avent) but it took him ages to drink what I consider to be a small amount- should we go up a size? Or does it really not matter?

I think the recommendation is to change teats every 3 months for 'hygiene reasons' so you are changing them a bit often if you only use them for a month!! Size 2 teats are slow flow recommended for babies under 3 months so if it is taking your lo ages to drink 4 ounces then definitely try a faster one - either size 3 (medium) which are from 3 months or size 4 (fast) which are from 6 months.

There is more info on the Avent website FAQ's

I'd recommend the variable flow ones, by the way - the harder they suck, the more they get, IYSWIM. And they don't drip if you hold them upside down for a few seconds.

Thank you both very much. Was thinking tonight, as the Avent products are interchangeable, should I just use his sippy cup top? He happily takes water from them but I wanted him to know the difference between water for mealtimes, milk for bed, but if I leave it in the clear bottle he'll see what he's getting.

Or do you think they gulp in an awful lot of air with those cups? On the odd occasion I have sipped from them I've thought they are bad for adding air...?

i used those orthodontic variable flow teats from boots and they still dripped if you held them upside down...
