Any way to prevent reverse cycling?

My nearly 6 month old daughter has finally started taking a bottle! She's not taking lots but I'm hoping it will increase a bit with time. I'd like to start increasing the bottles and cutting down breastfeeding a bit, she hasn't started solids yet. I have heard about reverse cycling...is there a way to prevent this from happening?

From what I've read, reverse cycling often happens in the ebf baby when the mother goes back to work. It's not always because the baby is not getting enough milk in the day, but because they want to 'reconnect' with their mother.

You don't mention if you are returning to work, but you could avoid this by introducing bottles gradually and giving your DD the bottles in a way that's as close to breastfeeding as possible with lots of cuddles.

Sorry, my dodgy punctuation implies you can avoid going back to work by introducing bottles gradually! Obvs this is not the case, meant you can avoid reverse cycling. Blush

Thanks, I was worried about her deciding to wake more in the night for breastfeeds if I introduce more bottles in the day. Is that not likely?

I'm not going back to work, but I like the idea of not working by introducing bottles!
