12 weeks | Breastfed Exclusively | Now Green Poo

Hi, I have been exclusively breast feeding my little boy for the last 12 weeks and suddenly this week his poop has been a lot greener compared to the normal mustard colour. Should I be concerned with this? Any thoughts welcomed.

Normally happens in hot weather (in which case is just a sign your body has adjusted the recipe to be more refreshing). I think it also can indicate the milk is going through your baby quickly for some reason. Are you in a hot location? Or did your baby have Calpol (gave ds green poo). Don't panic as green poo is within the boundaries of what is normal for ex b/f

It's a common side effect of the rotavirus vaccination drops. Has your little one recently been given this?

The only time I had poo changes with the DS's was when I had chocolate of red wine, particularly chocolate. No other food i ate affected it.

Sometimes it just happens. If it's just green poo and he is otherwise fine I wouldn't worry.

My DS had green poo at the 6 week check, and had had it for about a week or two at that point. I mentioned it to the GP and she shrugged and said that it was common for breastfed babies and would resolve itself when I stopped breastfeeding... rest assured it resolved itself before that. Another week or so iirc.

I have also heard that it could be caused by an infection, but if your baby is otherwise well then I certainly wouldn't be concerned.
