reflux - infant gaviscon

i've been prescribed infant gaviscon for my dd who is just over 2 months. Does it make feeds thicker - if so do you need to used medium flow teats instead of slow flow? Also how much do u use, gp seemed to think you could give as many doses as you like? most importantly does it actually stop babies bringing up part of their feed?

hiya, it only slightly thickens feeds, you need to use one sachet for 115mls of milk and that increases depending on size of feeds (instructions on sachet) i've only ever used one sachet even though my ds has 7oz bottles. i only use it in last couple of feeds a day so that he doesn't bring much up before he goes to bed. i found that when i first used it and put it into every feed it made him VERY constipated. doesn't completely stop the sicking up but certainly helps. i've never used a different teat than his normal one cause only one sachet doesn't really make it very much thicker.

I was told not to use it more than 6x per day, which for most babies covers every feed but mine was feeding 7x per day so I didn't use any in his dreamfeed. Most babies don't reflux after being feed in their sleep.

However, it didn't work us and he was prescribed zantac too. Stopped the gaviscon because it was constipating him and we already had problems in that area.
