Different things work for different people, so if possible, try before you buy. I just used a normal pillow, with, in the early weeks, an extra cushion added in one end (just to raise the baby's head slightly - did mean I had to turn the pillow around as well as the baby when changing sides...). My local support group has a Widgey style pillow which I used once or twice, and seemed alright. And someone else I know had a My Brest Friend which she thought was amazing.

Some other things which may help too (in addition to supporting the baby, not instead of) are making sure you have enough support behind your back, and perhaps raising your feet helps as well (I just used to sit with my feet on the shelf on our coffee table, but piles of books/magazines or maybe a low foot stool could work too).

I used a widgey pillow with DS2. It clings nicely to your sides, so doesn't slip.

I'm currently feeding on a my breast friend which was lent to me - I've been using a widgey until now. The widgey is good but I sometimes feel it slips away and there is no back support. the breast friend goes around you fully and clips in place. I can be more hands free with it and it also has a padded back support. Impressed so far! I also always have a few pillows behind my back.

I used two (cheap) v-shaped cushions from Dunelm mill. If feeding in bed I had one behind me (standing on its points (iyswim), and the other underneath the baby. Then I could have one cushion upstairs and one on the sofa, otherwise every feed the cushion would be on the wrong floor. I still use one now, as it's great when lazing on the sofa.

I have a c shaped feeding pillow from Argos, currently half price i think £12.49 which goes on my lap and protects my c section scar so would recommend that.

Nursing while lying down has been my back-saver.

Excellent point, happydaze77 - same for me!

It's lovely, Anyfucker. Feeding was a struggle with my premie DS and the first time I managed to get him on was lying down. So pressure- free.

I heartily recommend My Brest Friend pillow.
