Is the only reason you're advised against this hot spots? I used to zap my daughters formula a d just give it a really good shake...but I'm sure I've read somewhere you shouldn't shake breastmilk. Is that true? Do I have to heat it by standing the bottle in hot water?!

they do suggest against shaking BM as it breaks up long-chain soemthing or others.
you can still warm it in the microwave, just swirl it around gently (for a bit longer) rather than giving it a good old shake.

if it's just the occasional bottle then tbg i really wouldn't worry unduly about it. if it's the majority of the milk then i'd prob be a bit more careful :)

There's some info on heating BM here. Not sure but think the main risk of using the microwave is scalding.

Uneven heating causing hot spots and also anything heated in the microwave carries on building temperature once removed from the microwave, therefore u may test the temp and it feel fine but then 30secs / 1min later it could be much warmer.
