Hi just wondering, my dh done one feed last night (first time!) so he brought the milk upstairs frozen and left it out, baby woke around 3 and he defrosted the rest with hot water from a flask, is this ok?? I wasn't sure!

I think that would be fine. We ~(well, DH) defrosts it using hot water from the tap, as we were told to in hospital, but I can't see a problem with letting it start to defrost "naturally" first.

I was told never to shake it to recombine the layers. Always swirl gently. Not that I ever managed to pump enough to freeze :(

I always freeze in flat bags in 2oz increments, and defrost by putting a bag in cold water from the tap. Because it's flat and a relatively small quantity it defrosts quite quickly even in cold water. I find that by doing it this way it minimises waste as it just takes a few minutes to defrost another bag if she's still hungry.
