Off to docs with thrush - what do I need to make sure I'm prescribed?

As above, really! I know not all docs are terribly clued up so I'd like to be!
I'm 99.9% certain 9 wk old DS2 and I have thrush - very sore nipples after weeks of pain-free feeding, nappy rash, white spots in his mouth. Just want to make sure we knock it on the head before it gets any worse.
In addition to what we might get prescribed, has anyone got any other tips? Thank you in advance.

I went yesterday for the same thing. They gave dd nystatin which I am convinced has made it worse and also made her really sick and inconsolable last night. So I have stopped it today. I think the daktarin gel is supposed to be better. I'm also going to try some probiotics for both of us. Good luck!

Yes, you'll need to treat both of you otherwise it will just pass from you to the baby.

Daktarin is the preferred treatment I think....have a look at the Breastfeeding Network website, they have good fact sheets on thrush .
