My baby 'beats me up'

my ds 20 weeks today beats me up with his free hand every feed.
It ranges from scratching and nipping to full arm flailing whacking.
Any tips???

hold his hand

get a bfeeding necklace

make sure his nails are short

ds2 does this too

and also grabs handfuls of boob and twists

good luck!

DD used to do this - she also used to yank my hair unless I made sure it was tied up out of reach! the only solution I found was to hold her hand and play with her fingers to keep her occupied. ahhh I miss it now!

Give him small toy to fiddle with?

I like reading a book when I'm eating - maybe your v. bright ds is also looking for distraction!

SoupDragon · 04/07/2006 12:19

Tape his hands behind his back with duck tape.

NotAnOtter · 04/07/2006 12:21

PMSL!

Errrrrrrr...

Put up with it? That's usually what I resort to. The handful of boob twisting is particularly eye-watering though.

SoupDragon · 04/07/2006 13:06

BabyDragon tried a bit of nipple twisting this morning. I will simply make a note of it and bring all these things up when (if) she has children of her own.

"Serves you right, missy. When you were a baby you used to...."

oh happy days.

hunkermunker · 04/07/2006 13:08

Preferably in front of her friends, this anecdote recital, eh, SD?

SoupDragon · 04/07/2006 13:08

Complete with pictures.

Although possibly not of my nipples.

misdee · 04/07/2006 13:09

get a greastfeeding necklace. dd3 doesnt like my new one tho, and has moved onto pinmching boobs, or grabbing handfuls of material.

Hi NotAnOtter,

Sounds tiring, can sympathise. Was looking for advice on this type of behaviour myself with my 8 month old daughter who pinches and grabs and scratches (she's very nice usually)and found
this which was helpful...... Perhaps your baby is going through a growth spurt? Good luck.
