Cow and gates cheaper, I was on sma but dds poops were green and the smell was very....pungent, to put it politely, changed to c&g and they still smell (not as bad) and has gone back to chicken Korma colour the same as when I was bf, so my hv said that she must digest that one a bit better

when i rang the helpline i was told aptamil had more good fats in it which cost more to produce. i was on follow on milk with lo at the time and was told using one then the other eg if one was on offer wouldnt hurt as not much difference in taste or how they would be digested.

"more good fats" they should have the same level of 'good' fat. They take whatever is the cheaper fats. And follow on milk is something else they completely made up for unsuspecting mothers. With the sole reason to get around legislation about advertising. It is completely unnecessary.

There is no difference in taste or digestion as they are the same, the same recipe. Formula companies really would sell their grandma's to turn a profit.

From what I have read recently, mrsmartin1984 is right. They take loads out of the natural cows milk and replace it with cheaper fats which the body can't necessarily digest. Why add palm oil or GMOs when its unnecessary? Aptamil and C&G are both as guilty of these being big firms and seeking profit over health

After year 1, I tried Aptamil-3 and my baby boy heavily dislikes it, he vomited once. So, I am going back to C&G !

Hi I was advised by midwives to get aptamil and we did. During a Saibsbury's shopping I saw organic HIPP and bought it as we all want our children to get the best start in life!
My baby girl was very sick regurgitating and screaming her head off! Now I am trying Cow&Gate no problem at all (she seems to like it better!) But I think that they are all tye same by legal requirements. I do not buy the antireflux, constipation, comfort. It's a marketing question that's all.

Also don' change straight away as the body needs to adapt to the "new" formula.

I gave cow and gate formula as it was initially introduced to my son in the hospital. Then we continued with a breastfeeding only, later - mixed feeding and never had any problem or colics.
When we were abroad I had to buy Aptamil since there was no Cow and Gate and we didn’t feel any difference in the baby’s behaviour.
I remember we have been told in the hospital, that all the formulas are the same anyway since there are very strict regulations about baby’s food. But if by paying 2-3 pound more parents feel saver why not :))

The Difference between Aptamil (Premium) and Cow & Gate (Basic) is the difference between Premium and basic of the same product. Aptamil is Premium range using the best quality of ingredients, while Cow & Gate is a Basic range using lesser quality ingredients. So essentially, Cow & Gate gets the job done, but Aptamil gets the job done better.

I don’t know about with babies but with bodybuilders whey protein is the gold standard as the amino acids in them will be used 100% by the body. Not all proteins are like that. Casinate is not a great one. Cow and gate has a better percentage of whey than the aptamil. The source of protein may make a difference between the brands and explain why some babies respond differently.
