So trying to see the bright sides

So far can think of at weekends hd can help with night feeds

And I don't have to wear clothes where I can get to my boobs all the time

But I like the way bf all the baby really wants is his mummy for the milk and it's something else only I can do so granny's can't interfere too much

And I like the way I get to sit a lot bf

It's a good excuse for a rest

Oh and he was EMCS.

It is less exhausting as you will be able to get a rest or a break as someone else will be able to watch the baby. Don't underestimate the importance of this! If you are Ill you will be more able to rest for the above reason. Bf babies can develop a tendency to snack, waking every two hours to feed waaaaaaay past six months. All the mums I know, including me, who have problem sleepers demand breast fed. I don't know a single ff baby with frequent night wakings past 6 months. Not saying it doesn't happen, just less common.

And bf babies become hard to feed when you are out as they get distracted, this can make it difficult/ impossible to go out and be very limiting. Bf babies can develop weird habits, only feeding from one side giving you noticeably mis sized breasts. One mum I knew was virtually house bound for months as her dd went through a phase of only feeding when her mum was lying down. I think mixed feeding is the way to go if poss as it gives options. I would def. do this next time.

ds1 wouldn't bf, tried everything. So we ff'd instead.

ds2 came along a couple of years later and bf'd no problems at all.

I've done both and they both have advantages and disadvantages.

Unless your version of ff is sticking a bottle on the end of a pole and shoving it in your baby's mouth from the other side of the room you will still get your cuddles. Your baby will still get all the nutrition he needs. That really is all that matters.

Whatever you decide, please don't beat yourself up about it. I had loads of good quality support, but listened too hard to the brigade who insisted I just wasn't trying hard enough and ended up with PND.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for your advice and support

Well ds got weighed and he had gained 60 grams in two days

It's still an 8percent weight loss from his birth weight but they said as he's gaining now it doesn't matter

I still feel the same still want to breast feed but I'm not going to get myself stressed out about it because I just want to enjoy this special time

So we have been advised to continue doing what we are doing and he will be rechecked on mon

It's good that he's gaining weight. 60g is quite allot over two days. Babies who do lose allot of their BW take a while to recover. I think it took my daughter 3 weeks to return to normal. It's good that they are monitoring it. I hope it all works out. Enjoy them being so cute and nice smelling. I miss those days!!!

white that's wonderful news. Fingers crossed he will be well on his way on the weight gain when he's next checked.
