Crap latch at 3 months

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm exclusively BFing DD, who is just 3 months. I previously BF DS to 15 months. DD has got a tongue tie and upper lip tie but I decided not to get anything done about it as she was gaining weight fine and I didn't have any pain feeding her past the first week.

For the past fortnight or so her latch has been really rubbish, particularly on the right, to the extent that I now have a blister. Ouch. There are a few signs - dimpling of her cheeks, lipstick shaped nipple, some clicking sounds, lip not curled up etc. But mostly I can just feel the difference!

She's had a cold which she's just getting over, and also her second set of jabs this week. The poor latch has also coincided with her feeding a lot more over night - 3-4 x instead of once or twice (I know I was very lucky with that - DS was an all-night muncher).

Could the TT be causing a problem now when it didn't before? Or is it likely related to her cold? Any other suggestion and any tips for trying to get her to latch on properly? It's bloody painful!

Thanks in advance

Hello you. Just come on here myself to ask as I'm having similar issues with F and apart from jabs this week and possible teething I'm at a loss. I'm taking her off and re adjusting but it still feels too shallow. Will await the experts!

Hah how funny! Glad it's not just us! I don't remember DS ever having latch issues past the newborn stage.

Similar thing here but my DS is only 5 weeks. He's my second and I just know something isn't right with his latch -everything you said Vinegar - shallow latch, clicking, lipstick nipple. I can't see any tongue tie but we're seeing as lactation consultant today which I'm hoping will help.

I've been told, and it makes sense to me, that it changes as they grow. So it's necessary to find new positions or adapt the old ones to accommodate this.
Get to a group, I'd say. Don't suffer.

Thanks. I think I definitely need to get to a group somehow, I woke up to find her face covered in blood and she's been throwing up new/old blood all morning... She's fine in herself obviously but it's clearly not getting better by itself.

I've done all the tricks I know about changing position, trying to get her mouth wide etc, but it seems mad she could do it fine as a newborn but can't now!
