problems giving bf baby milk when with babysitters

Hi everyone

My 7 mth old dd is now exclusively bf. At about 3-4 mths we started combination feeding with both ebm or formula -mainly breastmilk if i could express enough. I had no worries leaving her with her grandparents for the day as i knew she was getting her milk. It was so nice to be able to leave her for a while and spend sometime to myself. But after a month or so she suddenly decided to refuse the bottle. I tried different bottles, even a sippy cup but she had made up her mind. The only way she wanted milk was from me.

She is now starting to eat solids alongside her milk, both pureed and finger foods. The problem i have is that i cant leave her with a baby sitter for any length of time as she isnt getting any milk.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what i can do? Why did she suddenly start refusing a bottle (even with mummys milk in it!) after taking it for a while? She loves her milk and doesnt 'eat' enough foods to go without so what is the solution?!
All help gratefully received x

She will start eating and drinking more and will be able to go longer without milk now. How long do you need to leave her for? My DS went to nursery at this age and just fed before and when I picked him up 4 hours later - had snacks, water and a meal in between..

Hi
I used to leave her for 6/7 hrs when she took a bottle. It was just nice to be able to leave her and get things done! Now, if I do leave her I worry constantly and nanny has said it's even difficult getting her to drink water from any sort of cup! The other day she resorted to spooning in water...this is not ideal!

My bottle refusing, non milk drinking DD2 survived on weak squash in a cup (I know, but no one fussed 12 years ago) and yoghurt when I went out for the evening.

Still doesn't drink milk

or water, the latter is extremely annoying and she couldn't care less.

DD2 is still a bit of a madam.

I did that StarBall, very weak squash, or pure juice with loads of water in it. It is such a worry if you are anxious about them not drinking enough.

I also used a lot of "wet" foods, such as yogurt, rice pudding, fruit purees.

Onepiece...I've been trying to incorporate 'wet' foods, Mollie loves her puréed fruits that I make and I'm just looking into yoghurt. I just worry about added sugars in products x

charrowell both of my dds liked yeo valley natural yogurt - no added sugar.
Also some veg such as cucumber is high in water. hth.
dd1 never really took to a bottle or indeed any other container with milk in!

charrowell · 03/10/2013 22:16

Am going to Asda tomorrow so will get some of that yoghurt, also never even thought about cucumber (probably because I don't like it myself) but will try that also. Thanks!
