DD3 unwell, not feeding much. Should I express to maintain supply?

Hi,

DD3 is a little unwell at the moment (snuffles for a couple of days then immunisations today - 9wks old). She has not been feeding as avidly over the last 3 days, both as far as frequency & duration is concerned. As a very rough guess she is probably taken no more than 2/3 of what she was 4-5days ago. Today she has fed especially poorly. GP is not overly concerned about her reduced intake but I am a little worried about supply if this continues - or am I just being paranoid?. Should I express a little to keep milk levels up? I particularly fear going through the 'growth spurt' type feeding while she gets the supply back if it does drop a little.
Has anyone got any experience to pass on?

Any ideas? How quickly is the milk supply likely to start to diminish?

How has your supply been so far? How has her weight gain been? (Did your bf your previous DDs? I think supply tends to be better with later babies, iyswim.)

Are your breasts hard and uncomfortable?

Expressing a little maybe wouldn't be a mistake, you could always stick it in the freezer. You don't want to let your ducts get blocked and get mastitis, but you also don't want to overstimulate production so your DD3 starts getting sprayed in the face.

sorry for disappearing, dd3 woke for a feed. supply seems good. I expressed exclusively for nearly 3 months with dtds, with good yeild. dd3 small but following the 2nd percentile well since birth. I think your right tho. It can always be frozen for a rainy day.
thanks.

If you're used to expressing, it might be quite easy for you to end up with oversupply, particularly if you've fed twins before (if I'm following your abbreviations rightly?). I wouldn't go mad with the pumping, unless you want to be obliged to pump for quite a while. (Of course, if you have a local milk bank, expressing loads could be good.)
