Feeds getting shorter at 4 weeks

My daughter was up until now taking at least an hour to feed. Very slow.

All of a sudden at nearly 5 weeks she's taking far less time - 10/15 mins each breast (if even). Could she possibly be getting what she needs? Breasts feel empty after - not completely though.

This is well within normal - both the slow feeds at the start then the switch to shorter feeds.

Of course she can get what she needs :) The baby is more of an expert and repeated 'practice' means your let down, and your supply, are doing just fine.

You cannot judge what a baby has taken how full/empty your breasts feel - not after the first days anyway.

Thanks Tiktok.

I had to drop one feed a week ago because I'm back to work and now a second feed next week so I'm paranoid about the supply etc.

She seems happy though.

You know it's illegal for an employer to make you go back to work as soon as this???

Dropping 2 feeds at just 5 weeks old is a risk to supply....the way to combat it is to make sure you don't go more than 3-4 hours max without feeding/expressing.

Sorry - I am assuming you are in the UK. Laws may be different elsewhere.

I'm self employed so needs must!
I did the same (more or less) last time and it worked out. So fingers crossed same this time.
