Dehydration

My DS2 is 16 weeks and ebf. I drink plenty of water (always have a bottle with tap water to sip with me, especially when feeding), however I am just constantly dehydrated and whatever amount I drink just makes me pee a lot! I have dry skin, incredibly dry eyes, sore/dry lips etc. especially in the night I get really dehydrated but drinking enough to quench my thirst just ends up making me have to go to the toilet several times a night.

Is there anything I can do to get hydrated or to make the water I drink actually 'stick'??

Put the BF to one side for a moment (bear with me)

You are feeling super thirsty and peeing loads. You need a check up with the GP.

In the early days its common to feel more thirsty with BF, especially during a feed. But the baby won't be removing enough fluid to actually dehydrate you - and if you are weeing a lot you are not dehydrated.

Yes worth getting a check up.

But to retain more water and help hydrate you, drinking little and often is more effective than downing pints at a time.

Try eating high water foods like melon, cucumber, lettuce etc.

Avoid diuretics like caffeine and some herbal teas, and processed sugary or salty food.

I should take my own advice
