Top tips for staying awake during night feeds....

.... What are they!

I am ebf twins, now two weeks old. I ebf my now 3 year old DD (and carried on until she was 2) and used to fall asleep during night feeds all the time. But I am tandem feeding the twins, which I think means there's more scope for squashing them / blocking their noses with my boob, and also the HV this time round seems very very hot on SIDS and saying that I must stay awake to avoid slumping over them while asleep. I guess they're hotter on this now?

I am not a huge fan of co sleeping, but of course have done it in times of need to get some sleep!

I have a mesh bed guard up on my side just in case I drop off, they can't fall out...

So far, I'm trying easy read thrillers in iBooks on my phone to stat awake. I do all night feeds in bec with no lights on, so most things like tv etc are out...

MN app on your phone, if you have a free hand! Also the dreaded Candy Crush game has kept me awake during feeds - its addictive (and irritating at times) but it has helped me over the last 19 weeks!

Feeling for you big time - our DTs are now 3.5 months old and still tandem feeding at night but thankfully now a lot quicker and less frequent.

I watched TV and films on my phone with the sound on low when DH wasn't in the room - early days it didn't seem to bother the babies. I did think maybe should have got headphones if that would work for you...

Other than that I find Twitter pretty good - just follow lots of people in a different time zone (eg US comedians) and they'll be stuff popping in.

I also felt the fear of dropping off when both on the job - but did. They are both fine!

Congrats on your lovely twins!

Get yourself a good supportive cushion and a selection of audio books/radio dramas to listen to. Download a simple but addictive phone game you can play one handed (two-handed phone use knackers your back when the DTs get a bit bigger). I like drop7 but there are loads.
DH used to find and download stuff to listen to for us during night feeds in the early days.

You can also do your internet shopping if you have an Ipad but that's much more boring.
Make the most of it - mine are 7mnths now and, although feeds are over much faster, trying to do anything during them is an automatic invitation to play!

I did doze off a few times and no harm was done. Mine tandem in rugby holds so they could pull their heads back if getting squashed. They should be fine in this position unless very small/early/sleepy.

Am feeling nostalgic about those lovely gentle newborn feeds now!
