I think my dd might be suffering from a sore tummy after feeds: she squirms and cries after most feeds, especially in the evening. It doesn't last for ever but I don't like to see her upset.

Does anyone have any tips or idea what I can do to help her, other than comforting her and lying her on her front after feeds?

Peasy don't lie her on her front unless you have been advised to by a Paed, its a SIDS risk. If she wants comfort try the tiger in the tree hold, if you aren't sure how to do it just search youtube and it should come up. Have you tried just keeping her in an upright position too?

Whilst you are on youtube look for Richard and Judy Happiest Baby. Its a great technique for soothing crying newborns.

Has she been checked for tongue tie too?

Are you still under the MWs? If so, what do they say?

If you are ffing, have you tried changing the formula and the bottle? Have you tried winding half way through a feed as well as at the end?

IF you are bfing, is there a bfing support group you can go to? They should be able to observe a complete feed and talk to you about your concerns Smile

2 weeks is also a classic time for a growth spurt, what happens if you feed her more?

Squirming and crying after feeds is on the normal spectrum for a young baby - it can usually be dealt with by a change of position, comforting and soothing, and/or offering the breast again (or more formula if ff).

No need to assume there is something wrong :)

Thanks - when I said lying on her front, I meant lying in the tiger in the tree position, not in her cot.

She's ebf... Maybe I should get the latch looked at as you suggest. My ds didn't do the same thing and I fed him in the same way, which is why I assumed the latch was all ok...

Are you burping her after each feed? My dd would get all squirmy until she was burped.
