Hv says I am in for '10 days of hell'?!

Met my Hv for ds2 today, he is 16 days old. He was 8lb 10 at birth and now 9lb 13, so ebf going well, he seems quite efficient and can go 4 hrs at night, I have a lot of milk and am leaking everywhere but hoping this will settle.

Anyway, Hv says he is between 75th and 91st centile for weight, but his head circumference is nearer 98th, so his real weight centile is prob also 98th so I'm in for a rough 10 days of constant feeding to get him there.

Is this right? I've never heard this logic before? Can't he just have a big head? just seemed a bit negative?

leedy I was just wondering how the HV knows when her "10 days" are due to start. Is it 10 torrid days after the baby feels the tape measure on their head? In your case, perhaps now that you have been alerted to the issue you might start a 10 day feeding frenzy of your own?

My baby's head was never measured once Confused but if a HV said that tk me I would ignore and carry on as usual

What a ridiculous thing to say! I'm afraid I can't really comment kn the logic behind it, but it is an extremely unhelpful way to phrase 'advice', akin to the terrible women who insist on telling you their utterly horrendous birth stories days befor you're due to give birth,

I think you do have to take head circumference into account. All thoae brain cells will need extra feding. It would ba a combination of height and head circumference that would indicate the correct weight. If you feed on demand he will just take what his body needs anyway.

IME HVs are fucking useless. Clueless, no idea how to interpret data, no ability to use common sense, they can just read from their script or make shit up, and we poor hormonal new mums are supposed to take it as gospel. Your dc is clearly doing fantastically well, ignore the HV's dodgy maths & keep doing what you're doing.
