Breastmilk poo and terry nappies!

Sorry not so much a question about feeding but the aftermath of it! I've just started using terry nappies on an exclusively breast fed baby and I wondered if anyone has any tips for the best way to wash them! Some of them have come out of the machine a bit stained!

Well I will never win housewife of the year but... so what? Nappies are for wee and poo, who cares if they are a bit stained? Drying them in the sun works a treat on stains, but I've never bothered doing anything else. I do use liners though. I wouldn't say any of my nappies or liners are whiter than white after several years of use, but it doesn't bother me.

No I don't really care either but they are second hand - given to me by the future MIL and they were perfect before I got my hands on them! Oh well!

What are you washing them with? Only ask because I followed The Nappy Lady advice to use biological detergent after years of avoiding it and the nappies stayed surprisingly white.

I am very far from being a domestic goddess btwSmile

Sunlight works wonder on cloth, DD2 (DC3) is wearing 3rd hand nappies that have been sun bleached for over 5 years now

Washed them in non-bio, aren't you meant to for baby stuff? No idea why though!

I use cloth and EBF my baby (until she started eating a few weeks ago). My nappies have stains in them sometimes. I find as you reuse and wash them they do come out after 3-4 washes. The only stains in my nappies are under a month old. I use a small amount of aldi non bio in a wash with a few drops of tea tree oil.

Sunning them helps. Or alternatively (if cotton, NEVER with bamboo) you could wash them on a super high wash to get the stains out.

And as said don't worry about a few stains if you are using them. Its only a concern if you are selling on as no one will see. I got some bamboo nappies really cheap because they were dated and stained. I strip washed, tumble dried and left them out in the sunshine for a week (because I put them out, forgot and went on holiday) and they are as good as new

Mine are from MIL too and came to me pristine after being used on DH and his siblings. I reckon it's because they used to boil wash them in ye olden times with tons of powderGrin I just wash mine at 40 with half a cap of laundry liquid, 60 if there are a few grim ones.
