How has breastfeeding changed as baby has grown?

That's my question really. LO is 15 weeks but 91st percentile for height and weight. She's as big as a 6 month old- as big as older babies at stay & play. I used to be able to feed off one side but she's hungry 1 1/2 hours later so ive started feeding from both. I'm starting to feel her feeding draining on me a bit more now but I'm not ready to stop. How have things changed for you? How did your body keep up?
Thanks x

It's good that she feeds off both sides as it probably means that she's now taking more per feed, and so may go slightly longer between feeds. (Although my dd was two hourly until solids were established)

Once solids are established I felt that there was less pressure to make sure she was full all the time. Don't rush solids though as their little tummies are delicate.

When they get distracted it can sometimes make feeding more difficult. I haven't been able to feed dd (10 mths) in public for a long time now - she needs a quiet, dark room!

Teething can be painful - for you and dd - she may find latching on more difficult while teething, and it can get painful. it does get better though.

I found that I enjoy breastfeeding much more now - it's a nice quiet time to lie down and cuddle up. I almost see it as an 'optional extra' now, rather than a duty - if that makes sense?

I love breastfeeding my 15-month old, it's hilarious as he is fairly gymnastic while he feeds. So he'll be sort of climbing all over me while latched on, or just lying there feeding, kicking his legs ecstatically. Or I'll end up lying on my back and he'll be standing up, but sort of bent over in an upside-down L shape - he actually went back to sleep feeding like this this morning.

Also, sometimes when he really wants a feed and I get a boob out he does this really funny 'hur hur hur' deep kind of laugh of joy.

Oh, and my least favourite thing (but it's so funny!)- if I'm in the middle of getting dressed and I'm topless, if I ever bend down to pick him up he manages to latch on as I bend over, which means I have to hunch until he lets go! Very uncomfortable!

What was really great though was a few months ago when he had a D & V bug and we were told not to give him any food or milk or anything except water and rehydration tablet stuff - oh and breastmilk was fine too. I was really happy that I could breastfeed him, and I'm sure it helped him get over his illness quickly.

Oh, and if you go to the children's playarea at my local park and it's inexplicably full of late teenagers smoking and swearing, no amount of pointed looks will stop them, but breastfeeding on a bench will apparently make them pack up and leave within about 5 minutes.
