Not sure shy. How are you getting on? If you are looking for a steriliser does that mean you are swapping to formula?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 04/09/2013 20:47

Forgot to say, Mn have some reviews of sterilisers here. Hope this helps Smile

How much space do you have in the kitchen?

I had the Avent steam one, we have a large kitchen, but it still seemed to take loads of space. Will you store stuff in it?

I bought the tommee Tippee steriliser from mothercare for 65 pounds, that included, steriliser, 6 bottles, bottle Warner, bottle cleaning brush, soother, bottle carrier (for outings etc) and more i just cant remember Grin google it Smile I can't wait to use it!!

I have the tommee tipped for when I express. For it from eBay for about twenty pounds. Works great, would recommend

GoingUpInTheWorld · 05/09/2013 15:38

Depends on what bottles you have or plan on getting as not all sterilisers cater for all bottles.

I would get the same brand steriliser as the bottles that you are going to use.

it even had little 'pics' in the plastic of where to place things to sterilize, in case you forget our like me buy second hand

melliebobs · 05/09/2013 15:40

I also had the TT steam steriliser after being given it. Held 6 bottles. Or my Avent pump

Veryshy1 · 05/09/2013 19:05

Thank you for replies. It just for sterilising my breast pump Smile.

I had an older one but the water was going brown so didn't think it was a gd idea to use.

Have you got a dishwasher? If so, its fine to wash it in the dishwasher and not sterilise. Do you use the pump all of the tine or just occasionally?

Veryshy1 · 05/09/2013 20:43

I just use it to mix some milk with his baby rice and was going to start giving him a sip cup. Smile

If you have a microwave, I would recommend a microwave one. You can store it in the microwave out of the way and they are a lot cheaper than the electric ones. I have the Avent one and my breast pump fits perfectly in it, as do all the bottles I have bought on a quest to find one that dd will take expressed milk from!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 05/09/2013 22:02

If you are in the uk its fine to use full at cows milk with the baby rice instead of expressed milk. Are you using a sippy cup for your breast milk or for water?

If you are starting solids he should be able to handle more than just babyrice and milk at 6.5 months. Have you tried giving him some food to hold himself, like a banana?

Have you read the MN weaning info? Its very good Smile

There are some good baby recipes on MN here and some good ones for food they can feed themselves here and here Smile

I have the tommee tippee one and I wish I bought the microwave one instead. It takes up so much room and I only use it for breast pump, and a bottle or two. Would have been fine if ff as it seems to hold quite a lot of bottles and is very quick. I also got it for £65 with all the bottles etc but another £10 off using mothercare app (£10 off £50+ spend)
